A Kingston initiative inspired by friendship and kindness is helping local animal rescues one nail trim at a time.
What started as a way to honour a friend’s memory has grown into an act of kindness across Kingston. The Kelsey Grant is a local initiative that offers free monthly pet nail trims at Ren’s Pets in the RioCan Centre, with donations supporting animal rescues in the community.
The project was inspired by Alexis Flowersmith’s friend Kelsey, who took her own life in 2020. Kelsey was known for her love of animals and her simple but powerful message: “Just be nice.” For more than a year, the team has continued that mission through compassion, community support, and helping pets in need.
