Medical Veterinarian, Sandra Powell started up this organization 2004
Life-saving care for animals is happening right here in Kingston through LifeStream Animal Blood Bank, a specialized service providing canine blood and blood products for veterinary transfusion medicine across Ontario and beyond.
Founded in 2004, the organization works with volunteer canine blood donors to collect, process, and distribute blood products used in emergency veterinary care and life-saving transfusions for dogs. The organization also offers a 24-hour emergency and consulting service, specializing in bleeding disorders and critical care support for veterinarians.
Leading the organization is Sandra Powell, who has more than 26 years of experience treating bleeding disorders in dogs and administering transfusion products. Based in Kingston, LifeStream supports veterinary clinics and pet owners across major centres including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and surrounding communities.
Powell joined us to talk about the importance of animal blood donation, the work LifeStream does behind the scenes, and how these services are helping save the lives of pets across the region.
