Survivor’s return to Brock Street Fire Station sparks emotional reunion

A chance to say "Thank you"

Last Thursday night brought heartfelt moments at Brock Street Fire Station as Chris, a survivor of a devastating house fire, reunited with the firefighters who saved his life.

The fire, on March 28, 2024, at Chatham and Colborne, left Chris with burns on 57% of his body. Rescued by the crew of P241 amidst intense flames, he was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in critical condition. After months of recovery and physiotherapy, Chris is now on the mend.

Meeting his rescuers in person was an emotional highlight, reminding all of the bravery and dedication firefighters bring to their work daily.

“This is why we do what we do,” one firefighter said, reflecting on the reunion.

Chris’s gratitude and resilience inspired the crew and community alike. Brock Street firefighters remain committed to protecting lives, while Chris’s recovery journey is a testament to strength and hope.

We wish Chris continued healing and success.
