Kingston shows progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Low emission steps in the right direction

A new climate report card shows Kingston is making strides in the fight against climate change. Since 2018, the city has cut overall greenhouse gas emissions by 5.8%, with a notable 7.4% drop in transportation-related emissions.

Energy consumption in Kingston has also decreased. Natural gas usage is down 12%, while electricity consumption has dropped by 6%. This brings the total energy cut to 10.7%.

These improvements reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to creating a more sustainable future. Kingston has been working on various initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, including promoting green energy and encouraging sustainable transportation options.

The report demonstrates the city’s dedication to reaching long-term climate goals, while showcasing its progress in reducing emissions and energy consumption.
