Gerry Lichty chosen as 2025 Frontenac County Warden

Mayor of North Frontenac to serve one year term

Frontenac County Council has elected Mayor Gerry Lichty of North Frontenac as the 2025 County Warden. The vote took place on November 20.

Lichty, who became Mayor and County Councillor in 2022, thanked outgoing Warden Frances Smith and his fellow councillors for their support. He highlighted the growing economic and social challenges facing rural municipalities and pledged to continue the work of his predecessors.

Lichty’s career includes leading roles in community housing projects, facilities management, and running his consulting firm. He moved to North Frontenac in 2014 and has since served in local leadership roles.

Deputy Mayor Bill Saunders of Frontenac Islands was elected as 2025 Deputy Warden.

The County Warden serves a one-year term, acting as Council’s Chief Executive Officer, presiding over meetings, and representing the County publicly. Frontenac County Council includes eight members representing its four townships. Their current term runs until 2026.
