A Presentation by Kerry Smith, former lecturer on Applied Ethics at Saint Paul University, Ottawa and author of The Well-being First Economy
Policy makers lack a strong legal foundation for making the best long-term decisions. Mr. Smith will show how embedding lifespan care values in law and social norms can help address our current crises of poverty, the underfunded social safety net, the increasing wealth gap, and the collapsing environment.
At the end of this 45-minute session, you will understand the Western philosophies of incidental and lifespan care, how we might bring them into balance, and the positive difference that would make.
You will find this of particular interest if you work/research in the fields of Human Rights, Economics, Government Policy, Social Services, Health Care Policy, and Education Curriculum. The general public is welcome; however, it is not suitable for children.
Mr. Smith is a retired corporate communications consultant to all levels of government in Canada, not-for-profits, and private enterprises.
