About the Band
Junkhouse emerged from the heart of the Canadian rock scene in the late ’80s, carving out a signature sound that blended raw energy, poetic lyricism, and gritty soul. Formed in 1989 and fronted by the charismatic Tom Wilson, the band quickly rose to prominence with their dynamic live shows and powerful songwriting.Their debut album, Strays (1993), introduced fans to hits like “Out of My Head” and “Praying for the Rain”, while subsequent releases — Birthday Boy (1995) and Fuzz (1997) — pushed musical boundaries and delivered staples like “Shine.”With the late Dan Achen on lead guitar, Russ Wilson on bass, and Ray Farrugia on drums, Junkhouse delivered a tight, emotionally-charged performance every time they hit the stage.
Their music blended rock, blues, and folk into a uniquely Canadian sound that still resonates today.Though they disbanded in the late ’90s, their legacy endures — a band that left an unforgettable mark on Canadian rock history.
