Have you ever wondered why happiness can feel so elusive? We may wake up feeling happy, only to feel sad later in the day—or come home from work feeling frustrated, sometimes without knowing why. Shouldn’t it be easier to simply stay happy?
The Buddhist answer is that happiness is something we cultivate within our own minds. By learning to develop positive attitudes and thoughts, we can experience far greater inner balance. In these classes, we will explore happiness and meditation, how to approach problems with wisdom, and why reflecting on death can be the beginning of a spiritual quest.
What to Expect:
These classes include two guided meditations and a practical talk on a weekly topic. After each class, there is time for Q&A. Each class is self-contained, so you are welcome to join at any time. No previous experience is required. You do not need to bring anything with you, and the meditation is conducted on chairs. No special clothing is required. No pre-registration is necessary.
The Teacher:
Gen Kelsang Chöyang is the Resident Teacher at Kuluta Buddhist Centre. She has been studying under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 30 years. She has taught Kadampa Buddhist classes in Courtenay, British Columbia; Berkeley, California; Brockville, Toronto and Ottawa. Gen Chöyang is known for her sincere and practical approach to integrating Buddhism into daily life. Her teachings are powerful and inspiring.
