On the last Saturday of Canada’s Environment Awareness Week, Earth Fest will happen for the benefit of Kingston residents, adults and children, passersby and tourists. Earth Fest will be a celebration of the Earth at a point when we all need to connect with our responsibility to take care of this planet. There will be Live Music playing all day, a play, a puppet show, living creatures, crafts plus information for everyone in the community about climate science and the care of our precious planet.

GREEN FESTIVAL PROMISES PUPPETS, MUSIC AND MERRIMENT
And how much we value our planet, cradle to grave

Cradle-to-Grave. Sounds like something that’ll last a lifetime. It’s become a business buzzword. It suggests that hazardous materials require careful care -- from when it’s generated right up until final, safe disposal. A life cycle.

If you want to get another green take on cradle-to-grave, on June 6 just head on down to Kingston’s first-ever “EARTH FEST” in Confederation Park right in front of City Hall.

That’s where you’ll discover “Welcome New Earthlings”– with gifted ornaments celebrating your baby’s birth, and possibly their First Festival captured by their parents in a special photo booth.

At the other end of the cycle, try out a green coffin, learning about green burial courtesy of Green Burial Kingston.

All day live music, with an emphasis on good-time ukulele strummers and the music of several other local musicians.

And much more…“We’re organizing a family oriented environmental event with a difference,” explained Laurie Davey-Quantick, longtime proprietor of Verde, Kingston’s former green retailer. “Earth Fest will offer puppeteer performances, a story-time, face and t-shirt painting- all with an environmental theme -reminding us just how much we value our planet and our climate.”

Earth Fest will be short on speeches, long on the straight goods about bees, turtles, birds, Monarch butterflies, and community gardens. With opportunities to learn about how to recover chairs and choose a heat pump and EV or Hybrid with confidence.

“We’re all about everyone – and especially our leaders --
becoming more thoughtful about consuming less and the need to protect nature,” said effervescent Kingston grandmother Judi Wyatt, Earth Fest.

“They’ve simply got to work harder to prevent climate breakdown. The word “CRISIS” doesn’t do justice to what’s happening to us and all the creatures who share the planet.”
